3. Factor Level Verification Guidelines

The table following gives suggested levels for each evaluation factor, given the selection made for Education Level.
Education Level is used as the basis for the table; it is the first factor listed for assessment in the evaluation process.
The table can also be applied using a different factor as the starting point. For example, assume Written skill was assessed first, at say Level 6. Then, by reading across the Written skill row in the table, we see that Level 6 is deemed compatible with Education Levels 7 through to 9. Reading down the three columns headed by Education Levels 7 to 9, compatible Level for all other Factors are indicated. Using this process and reading down the three columns, a suggested reasonable range for, say, Problem Solving, is Level 3 to 6.
When the Calculate or Save buttons are activated an advisory message is displayed if a particular factor level appears too high, or too low, in relative to the levels chosen for the other factors. The message identifies the factor in question and suggests an alternative level or range of levels. If you do not wish to change the level you have chosen click the Cancel button on the message display, otherwise click OK to proceed and make a change. The likely change that you make could be to the factor in question, or to the Education Level. Depending on the combination of factor levels chosen, several factors could be tested in this way.
Some factors are specific to particular job types, such as: Artistic Skill, Physical Skill, Care (in terms of the provision of compassionate services), and Application/Interpretation of the Law. In these cases the range of levels always includes Level 1 (Not Applicable), to allow for those jobs where the factor does not apply.
The use and maintenance of organisation assets is another factor that may not apply, irrespective of the fundamental education level required to perform the job. Accordingly, Level 1 (Not Applicable) is always accepted.
