Artistic Skill measures the complexity of artistic design, and communication through artistic media, including digital media, that are required of the position. Relevant technical design, such as architecture, is included.
Business impacts and importance of artistic skill are measured by the factor Proficiency. For example, while the advertising campaign for the launch of a major industrial product, or for a significant new government policy may require a Level 6 skills for Artists for its artistic content, the level of proficiency required of the designer of such a campaign is assessed by Proficiency.

CRITIQUE / COMPLEX Requires ability to perform or critique complex works, routines or representations in music, dance, acting, singing or other similar art forms,
OR,
design or produce detailed art objects in a single medium (eg visual art, music, dance, photography, film, television, computer graphics, design, verse, or a physical medium such as sculpture, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, etc) whose objective may be to promote an idea, product or service, or to provide entertainment.

INTRICATE DESIGN Requires ability to design intricate art objects such as jewellery or high fashionwear. Purely technical design, such as architecture and design engineering, is included in this level.
Playwriting or screen writing for major films or productions is at this level, as is stage / theatre design for major works
OR
Design, produce or critique representations combining several media (eg visual art, music, dance, photography, film, television, computer graphics, design, verse, etc) to entertain, or to explain, illustrate, or clarify concepts.

MANAGE (DIVERSE) Requires ability to design or produce material, or manage production processes using deep knowledge and understanding, possibly combining a range of media to communicate complex concepts to either a single or a diverse audience to entertain, or to inform, or to influence or persuade towards support for organisational objectives.
